Morris Brown College: Progressive and Creative Solutions Needed
Morris Brown won't/wouldn't allow financial take-over by Tom Joyner. Are they being obstinate, unrealistic about the possibility of "successful" forward movement, or are the board members et al. authorities simply misguided and incompetent (feel free to offer other options)? Is it fair to bring students into an academic environment that merely exists on the perennial verge of closure, no accredita tion, and myopic administrators? My love for Morris Brown College is profound, but this must stop now! Conversations need to move in the direction of CAU, Spelman, and/or Morehouse absorbing the institution with the possibility of allowing Morris Brown to become a satellite institution of one of the others, or having Morris Brown become the honors college or business school campus for CAU, for example. Even if all the present debts were forgiven, are we honestly believing this won't emerge yet again? Progressive leadership is required, and we must respect...
